Marcus joined Inkling in 2023 after several years of close collaboration as an independent consultant.
He is a strong believer in the value of modelling as a facilitator of good design, advocating that specialists in modelling should have a deep understanding of not only the analysis tool, but also the dynamics of building behaviour and the systems that they contain.
Marcus has a background in building services design, having started out as a project engineer in a building services and environmental engineering consultancy, working on a wide range of projects and gaining experience of MEP systems and dynamic simulation modelling. He went on to become a modelling specialist and in 2015 set up as an independent consultant, looking to bridge the gap between engineering expertise and the understanding of modelling tools.
In recent years Marcus has had a strong focus on overheating risk in buildings, consulting on numerous projects and contributing to the research and guidance produced by the likes of CIBSE and the Future Homes Hub. He also contributed to the production and technical review of LETI’s Operational Modelling Guide, published in 2023, which looks to promote and facilitate the role of detailed building modelling in helping to deliver performance that meets design intent.
