Susie founded Inkling in 2011. Prior to that she led the Building Physics team at Mott MacDonald (previously Fulcrum Consulting).

She has worked on a diverse range of projects providing dynamic thermal modelling expertise to inform the design process in various ways. She has gained particular recognition for her work on assessing overheating risk, and is currently focussed on using modelling tools to predict (and improve) in-use energy performance.

Susie works hard to collaborate with clients, listening closely to what they want to achieve within the usual constraints of planning, legislation and budget. She encourages early, face-to-face discussions about Building Physics; explaining its value as a design tool; informing design decisions and giving guidance on how decisions will impact on thermal comfort and energy performance.

Susie acted as judge for the CIBSE Building Performance awards three years running. She is a lead author on industry guidance including CIBSE TM59: Design methodology for the assessment of overheating risk in homes and CIBSE TM54 Evaluating operational energy use at the design stage (2022). She has contributed to numerous industry groups including LETI, and the CIBSE Resilient Cities group; and written about the industry for a range of media including BBC News, The Guardian and the CIBSE Journal.
