We believe in practicing what we preach and commit our time and skills to causes and organisations that we feel make a difference.
Activism
#EndGasNow
Along with many other leading organisations Inkling signed the #EndGasNow pledge in 2022. As the pledge states: “In 2019 we declared a climate emergency. Now it’s time to act like it.”
Inkling now asks clients whether projects propose the installation of new gas or fossil fuel heating systems before we provide a quote.
See our blog post about this here.

Building Services Declare
Inkling are signatories of Building Services Engineers Declare. For everyone working in the construction industry, meeting the needs of our society without breaching the earth’s ecological boundaries will demand a paradigm shift in our behaviour. Together with our clients, we will need to commission, design and maintain buildings, cities and infrastructures as indivisible components of a larger, constantly regenerating and self-sustaining system in balance with the natural world.
Inclusion and Diversity
As a largely female-led business we value and champion inclusion within the construction sector. Claire and Susie have both participated in:
- Championing inclusion at industry events
- Establishing and supporting WIBSE (Women in Building Services Engineering)
- Mentoring other built environment professionals through the Built By Us Fluid Diversity and Shape schemes
Inkling also advocates an inclusive working environment, with all three of us working flexible hours.
